Gift Cards - GiftLocal Basics

Gift Cards - GiftLocal Basics
How it works
Once you’ve opted into the program, consumers will have the ability to purchase gift cards online for your member businesses either through an icon that will display next to their member name in your online business directory and/or at Giftcards.com.
Your association will also have a community gift card that may be used at any member location, available for purchase on your own giftcards.com website page.
Giftcards.com produces and mails out the gift card to the recipient who goes to the business and buys product with the gift card.*
*Member businesses must be able to accept Discover Card which is typically able to be enabled by their merchant if not already enabled. If not, these members will not want to sign up or can be opted out of the program later by contacting Giftcards.com.
What gift card categories are available?
These categories available on Giftcards.com website are ones that typically offer gift cards for their services and products.

When the member completes their free setup, they will have an option to map their business category to these nine gift card categories plus a “catch-all” category called “Other”. Completing this free setup is done by the member when logged into their Member Information Center by selecting the Apps icon (MIC v4) or by clicking the Giftcards banner ad (MIC v3 and v4) when enabled by you, the association.
Members not included in the specific nine categories above will not have a “Buy Giftcard” button next to their name on your public directory but will be able to direct consumers to the giftcards.com website.
Marketing Tool Kit
MicroNet has provided an easy-to-use marketing toolkit for communicating to your members about the benefits of this program. However, during the opt-in process you may have agreed to allow MicroNet to market to your members so there is actually nothing you have to do. But if you’d like to supplement the marketing efforts with your own plan, select Gift Cards in the left-hand menu and select the Toolkit tab. You’ll be presented with links to graphics, videos and promotional flyers.
